Author: (American) Cutler, edited by Zhu Zengwen, translated by Lin Zheng

Publishing Date: 2006-04-01
Features: The purpose of compiling this book is to help students understand the historical role of the Supreme Court in the development of the U.S. Constitution. The cases are arranged in chronological order according to traditional historical periods and classified by relevant issues. The introduction before each case aims to familiarize readers with the historical and constitutional context, background information on the facts, and the relationship between the case and previous or subsequent cases. The cases are, of course, selected, but the authors strive to provide detailed excerpts for each case to enable readers to better understand the court's considerations in law, politics, society, and economics in order to make "constitutional" rulings. Where appropriate, the authors also list some dissents. It must be emphasized that this book does not intend to include all materials related to constitutional history and legal history.
