Patient's question:
I recently don't know what's going on, my lower body is very uncomfortable, and I'm not getting morning erections anymore. Should I have surgery for prostatic calculi?Doctor's answer:
Prostatic calculi are mostly small, often less than 1 cm in diameter, and patients may not exhibit any obvious clinical symptoms. Some patients may have symptoms of prostatitis, while a few may have combined benign prostatic hyperplasia. The prostate is a solid organ, making it difficult to detect calculi through the urethra, and treating the calculi alone can be challenging. If a patient has severe benign prostatic hyperplasia with multiple calculi, the stones can be addressed during the prostatectomy procedure. Most patients do not require special surgical treatment for the calculi.
