Features: Professor Chen Mengjia was a renowned modern Chinese poet, paleographer, and archaeologist from Shangyu, Zhejiang. After graduating from Central University in 1932, he taught at Qingdao University, Yanjing University, and the Southwest Associated University in Kunming. From 1944 to 1947, he taught Chinese paleography at the University of Chicago and collected Shang and Zhou bronze artifacts scattered in Europe and America. Upon returning to China, he became a professor at Tsinghua University and later a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1952. Professor Chen Mengjia studied ancient religion, mythology, and rituals through paleography, which then led him to research ancient history and archaeology. He made significant contributions in oracle bone studies, the dating of Western Zhou bronze artifacts, and bamboo and silk inscriptions, earning high regard from academic circles both in China and abroad.
