What is asthenozoospermia? What are the symptoms?

Patient's question:

What is asthenozoospermia? What are its symptoms? How can it be diagnosed?

Doctor's answer:

Azoospermia refers to a condition where the percentage of progressively motile sperm is less than 50% or the percentage of sperm with A motility is less than 25% in semen parameters. Only through careful laboratory examination can azoospermia be diagnosed. It is recommended to collect semen after a cold exposure period of 3 to 7 days. If the results of routine semen analysis over three consecutive times indicate that the percentage of progressively motile sperm (A+B) is less than 50% or the percentage of rapidly linearly motile sperm is less than 25%, with a sperm density greater than 20~10^6/mL and other parameters normal or nearly normal, then azoospermia can be diagnosed. Alternatively, if sperm motility is less than 50% 1 hour after ejaculation, and laboratory or other tests reveal reproductive tract infections or other diseases that interfere with sperm motility.
