Features: The history of disasters and the history of calamities are closely related. Generally speaking, calamities often occur during major natural disasters. However, they also have fundamental differences and belong to different research fields. The former focuses on human society in the midst of disasters, falling under the field of social history within historical studies. The latter focuses on the natural environment where disasters occur, belonging to the field of historical geography. Moreover, the causes of calamities, apart from natural disasters, also include factors such as prolonged wars, political turmoil, and invasions by foreign tribes, which are not uncommon in Chinese history.
