Patient's question:
Doctor. The baby is so, just born not long ago, and already has intracranial hemorrhage. What should we do?Doctor's answer:
The prognosis of intracranial hemorrhage in newborns differs from perinatal factors such as etiology, bleeding volume, location, type, and degree of brain injury. If patients with grades I~II intracranial hemorrhage are diagnosed early and treated promptly, the prognosis is relatively favorable. Among them, 90% can survive, and about 20% of grades II~IV intracranial hemorrhage patients may develop hydrocephalus. The mortality rate for grades II~IV intracranial hemorrhage patients exceeds 50%. Approximately two-thirds of survivors will have hydrocephalus or other neurological sequelae. Generally, a full-term infant with acute hypoxia for 20 minutes has a normal Prognostic Index score.
