How to treat varicocele?

Patient's question:

B shows varicocele, diagnosed one month ago, now there is a pain sensation 10 cm below the groin.

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Varicocele is caused by the obstruction of venous return within the spermatic cord, leading to the tortuous and dilated veins resembling earthworms. This results in symptoms such as a heavy feeling in the affected scrotum, which is more pronounced when standing, and pain. During examination, dilated veins can be palpated in the spermatic cord above the testis, appearing as a mass with soft texture. Generally, if varicocele is detected and clinical symptoms are severe, it is recommended to undergo high ligation of the spermatic vein to achieve the best possible self-healing. During the illness, sexual intercourse should be avoided, and bed rest is advised.
