How to treat Down syndrome

Patient's question:

A child in the neighbor's house has been diagnosed with Down syndrome. I would like to ask how to treat a child with Down syndrome?

Doctor's answer:

Known as Trisomy 21 syndrome, also called Down syndrome or Down's syndrome, it is the most common congenital birth defect disease caused by chromosomal abnormalities in children. As the name suggests, this disease is caused by congenital factors with special phenotypes leading to intellectual disabilities. The incidence rate of Trisomy 21 syndrome among live births in China is approximately 0.5‰~0.6‰, with a male-to-female ratio of 3:2. 60% of children suffer from early miscarriage in the fetal stage. The main clinical features of children are intellectual disability, physical retardation, and special facial characteristics, and may be accompanied by various malformations. Currently, there is no effective treatment for this disease.
