Features: Tang poetry stands as a majestic peak in the history of Chinese poetry, with over 50,000 surviving works and more than 2,000 renowned poets. This book selects 300 of these works, categorizing them into ten themes or subjects for detailed annotations and appreciations. These ten themes are: Descriptive Poetry and Emotional Expression, Ode to Objects and Sentimental Themes, Farewells and Remembrance, Love and Longing, Nostalgia for Hometown, Historical Odes and Antiquarian Reflections, Frontier Military Life, Political Satire, Life Reflections, and Moral and Spiritual Realm. The greatest feature of this book is its classification by theme or subject rather than by author or work. This arrangement makes it convenient for readers to search and retrieve works based on their preferences and needs, while also facilitating comparisons and appreciations of different poets' styles within the same theme or subject. The book respects the subjective nature of aesthetic appreciation while maintaining objectivity and scientific rigor in interpretation. To enrich the content and enhance the reading experience, the book also includes "Tang Poetry Tips," compiling essential knowledge about Tang poetry, interesting anecdotes about poets and their works, as well as critiques from renowned scholars. The authors of this book are doctoral and master's students from the Classical Literature departments of Beijing Normal University and Chongqing Normal University, with solid academic foundations, active thinking, innovative perspectives, rich emotions, and elegant writing. Their appreciative essays not only showcase the essence of Tang poetry but also reflect its pervasive influence in contemporary life.
