This logical integration, in the view of this book, is a necessary and beneficial supplement to the description of the "internal history." The book focuses on the "Middle Part" and the "Lower Part." The "Middle Part" consists of five chapters, primarily organizing and summarizing the overall research status of ancient poetry theory, ancient prose theory, ancient fiction theory, and ancient drama theory. This organization basically adopts two methods: first, summarizing the "general trends" of each sub-discipline's theoretical research from a diachronic perspective to verify the parabolic discourse movement of 20th-century ancient literary theory, and then, from a synchronic perspective, organizing and reflecting on important issues in the "sub-discipline theoretical research." The "Specific Studies" also ensure that each topic is elaborated on both diachronically and synchronically, with the "problem awareness" being the consistent thread. The academic historical framework adopted in the "Topic Studies" section, with problems as the core, can organically integrate with the aforementioned consistent "problem awareness"—this is where the book puts great effort.
