Features: This book is one of the interim achievements of a major research project funded by the Ministry of Education's Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences in 2004 (04JJDZH011), undertaken by Professor Wan Minggang. The research begins with the interaction and daily lives of students from major and secondary schools across Tibetan, Han, and Hui ethnic groups, exploring the issue of ethnic identity among students of different ethnic backgrounds. It systematically analyzes the deep-seated cultural adaptation issues involved. The book consists of eight chapters: Research on Ethnic and Cultural Identity of Tibetan University Students; Study on Ethnic Identity and Intergroup Attribution of Han, Tibetan, and Hui University Students; Self-Concept and Religious Consciousness; Cross-Cultural Study on Subjective Happiness of Middle School Students from Different Ethnic Groups; Research on the Socialization of Religious Values among Hui Youth; Study on Religious Life of Women in Hui Communities; Religious World of Hui Middle School Students; History and Current Research Topics in Ethnic Psychology. This book is a representative work in the current study of ethnic identity issues in Northwest ethnic regions and is highly readable. The research theme of this book is religious values and ethnic identity. I have been engaged in minority education research for many years, but I have never touched on the study of values and ethnic identity. I have always felt that this is a challenging research field. Religious values and ethnic identity are important aspects of socialization for minority children.
