Features: The Record of Houshan – This book records over 20 entries on Tang and Five Dynasties poetry, prose, and ci poetry, along with related anecdotes. Among them, four entries are on Li Shangyin, three on Li Bai, and two on Du Mu. These 12-plus entries are either extracted from rare materials, intended to uncover forgotten treasures; or involve textual criticism of authors or works; and some are also meant for appreciation. In Volume 1, the Record of the Drunken Days of contains passages not found in Complete Works of the Tang Dynasty. In Volume 6, the Poem of Chan Yue and Wang Cao cites a poem by Guan Xu not included in Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty. This book also examines individual entries on the Tang Dynasty () and Yuefu tunes. Volume 6 includes the Poem by the Khitan Empress of Liao Tianzuo, which records one poem by the Khitan Empress. Although only one poem survives, it is highly valuable. The book also explores the origins of short prefaces (), official bulletins (), and epitaphs (). It holds significant literary historical value.
Han Lou Hu, styled Junqing, was renowned for his sharp debates and eloquence, leaving listeners in awe and earning the nickname "Lou Junqing's Lips and Tongue." He was a favored guest of the Wang family's five princes. On one occasion, the princes competed to present exotic delicacies, and Lou Hu combined them into a dish called "houshan," which was considered the ultimate delicacy in the world! The book also includes The Ink's Whips () and Continued Ink's Whips ().
