Features: Every kind of atmosphere requires inheritance. When we talk about the spirit of Peking University and its atmosphere, it ultimately depends on its—humans—to embody it. Where does the backbone and sense of mission of Peking University people come from?—The history of Peking University, its environment, are all essential origins. But as a Peking University student once said, it is the "gentle spring sunshine of teaching"—that influence, coming from Peking University's former and current teachers, the masters of Peking University. For over a century, the footsteps of countless celebrities have walked alongside Peking University's trajectory; their former or current residences, like Peking University itself, are enveloped in sacred light. A year ago, we visited the famous former residences of Peking University in the city's Shantai area. In the past year, we have also visited Yannan Garden multiple times, listening to the teachings of professors such as Rui Mu, Hou Renzhi, and Lin Geng, though all are now over ninety, their minds remain clear and their thinking remains sharp. We have also paid visits to many predecessors, including Ji Xianlin, Lin Tao, Xu Xianyu, Zong Pu, and Tang Yixuan, among others, who recall many stories about the celebrities of Yan Yuan and their residences with deep emotion. It is with their help that we were able to write the stories of these great masters.
