How is varicocele treated

Patient's question:

I am only eighteen years old this year, but recently I have been feeling that my scrotum is quite damp. When I squeeze it with my hand, I feel something like rubber inside. After a thorough examination at the hospital, the result was varicocele. What should I do?

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele is a soft, plexiform or worm-like dilated vein cluster above the testicle. Some patients may experience more pronounced symptoms such as a sensation of heaviness or discomfort in the scrotum, accompanied by swelling and pain in the perineum, lower abdomen, or waist. The symptoms become more noticeable after prolonged standing or strenuous activity, and they may alleviate after lying down and resting. It is noteworthy that bed rest is also necessary during treatment. Avoid intense exercise, maintain a calm mood, and do not experience excessive stress.
