How to Treat a Frenulum Laceration

Patient's question:

Can the foreskin frenulum tear be treated by applying anti-inflammatory medication, such as cephalexin, to the wound? Can it be applied? How should a foreskin frenulum tear be treated?

Doctor's answer:

A mild preputial frenulum laceration can first be disinfected locally with mercurochrome, then treated with petroleum jelly gauze dressing on the wound, and re-bandaged with gauze bandage. Change the dressing once every other day. For severe injuries, local medication and surgical debridement should be performed immediately. Change the dressing once every other day, and remove the stitches after 7 days.
To prevent wound infection, anti-inflammatory treatment should be administered during this period. Inject 800,000 units of penicillin and 0.5 grams of streptomycin mixed together intramuscularly. If the patient is allergic to medication, oral norfloxacin 0.2 grams can be taken four times a day. Additionally, use topical medications such as tranexamic acid or hemostatic agents.
To prevent penile erection from affecting wound healing, oral ethinyl estradiol 2 milligrams can be taken once nightly to increase sexual arousal.
