Features: This book focuses on the company as the core, examining financial issues from the perspective of management. It has the following features:
■ Strategic Focus. Students often view financial management as a discipline distinct from management and business decisions. This book attempts to connect them, emphasizing the integration of financial functions with management decisions, corporate planning, and the external environment.
■ Emphasis on Practical Methods. In some financial textbooks, financial theory dominates. While this book also covers a significant amount of important theory, it places greater emphasis on the combination of theory and practice—exploring why theoretical discrepancies sometimes occur and evaluating the role of relatively simple financial methods. In other words, the textbook does not overemphasize theory.
■ Clear and Accessible Format. The book includes some formulas, proofs, and quantitative analyses, but where possible, alternative narrative explanations are provided. The appendix is used to address more complex mathematical issues.
■ International Perspective. The original version of this book was published in the UK, but it includes cases from different countries and is also suitable for use in other regions and countries. This textbook has been highly successful for beginners and students with some financial knowledge, making it particularly suitable as a corporate financial management textbook for undergraduates, MBA students, graduate students, and adult education programs. Additionally, the content of the book aligns with the financial management papers of many accounting professional qualification exams, such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), making it a valuable reference for preparing for such exams.
