Features: After the victory of the War of Resistance, people placed hope in the Kuomintang, expecting them to rebuild the homeland, revitalize society, and strengthen China, as well as build a modern nation. However, the Kuomintang's economic reception of the occupied areas was, in reality, a large-scale plunder of the people's wealth in those regions. This not only reflected the severe political corruption of the Kuomintang but also caused the broad masses of the people to lose faith in the Kuomintang. The frequent civil wars led to economic destruction, triggering an economic crisis, and forced small and medium-sized urban industrialists and merchants to face economic bankruptcy, shattering their illusions about the Kuomintang. The one-party dictatorship and the exclusion and suppression of intermediate political forces caused numerous democratic parties and progressive individuals to distance themselves from the Kuomintang, turning instead toward the Communist Party. More importantly, since the Kuomintang established its government, although it had conducted some pilot land reforms, it never seriously considered the long-standing desire of farmers for land, failing to meet their survival needs. Instead, it suppressed and persecuted farmers, neglected rural social transformation and sustainable development, and thus, in the later stages of the Kuomintang's rule on the mainland, it completely lost the support of the vast majority of farmers, who overwhelmingly turned toward the Communist Party. As a result, the Kuomintang was completely isolated in the eyes of the people nationwide. Under the heavy military blows of the growing strength of the Communist Party, its complete collapse was inevitable. The above issues have been preliminarily explored, but due to their broad scope, further research is needed to make the study of the history of the Republic of China more flourishing.
