Patient's question:
I have had prostatitis for a while, but I still haven't felt any improvement in my condition! I have gone to the hospital several times, and they have told me to take the medicine on time and not to hurry. Can I not be in a hurry? I have asked people who have had the same condition as me, and they all told me if it's possible that mine is benign prostatic hyperplasia!Doctor's answer:
Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)There are several methods for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, which can be broadly categorized into surgical treatment and non-surgical treatment. Non-surgical treatments include local penetration methods, rectal medication combined with infrared therapy, local injection methods, and others. Here, we will explain a few self-administered external treatments for reference only.
1. Mild hyperplasia does not require treatment.
2. Estrogen therapy: Take ethinyl estradiol orally at a dose of 1–3 mg once daily, three times a day, for 1–3 weeks. For acute urinary retention or more severe urinary difficulties, the initial dose may be slightly higher, or use estradiol valerate 10 mg for intramuscular injection, once every 5–7 days.
3. During acute urinary retention, acupuncture can be applied to points such as Guanyuan, Qihai, Sanyinjiao, and Yanglingquan. Catheterization should be performed to eliminate urinary retention, and the catheter should be retained to gradually empty the bladder.
