Features: Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies is a comprehensive academic and cultural serial publication founded by the Yan Huang Culture Research Association. The Yan Huang Culture Research Association is a national grassroots cultural organization composed of scholars, experts, senior cadres with rich cultural heritage who have long been engaged in cultural publicity leadership, and people from all walks of life who are passionate about Yan Huang culture. Since its establishment in Beijing in 1991, the association has made significant contributions to promoting outstanding traditional Chinese culture and fostering the construction of new cultural initiatives in contemporary China. To promptly reflect the association's academic achievements and advance academic exchanges both domestically and internationally, the association began planning the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies shortly after its founding. For over a decade, it has been published annually, with ten issues released to date. However, it has consistently appeared as a supplement to the association's other influential documentary monthly publication, Yan Huang Chunqiu.
As the association's academic activities have grown increasingly frequent and research outcomes have become more abundant, the supplementary format clearly no longer meets the needs of both subjective and objective conditions. Through concerted efforts and with the support of knowledgeable individuals from all sectors, the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies has been published by Xiangyang Press, one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization and the hometown of the Yellow Emperor, since 2004. Building on its existing foundation, it will retain its distinctive characteristics while also expanding and developing, with two issues published annually, continuing its publication indefinitely. This marks a new phase in the editing and publishing of the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies. In today's publishing industry, where countless journals and serial publications exist in a myriad of circumstances, some have flourished into renowned brands, while others struggle to survive, and some have even, facing insurmountable challenges. Faced with this fierce competitive landscape, how to ensure the continuous survival and development of the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies, making it even more vibrant, is a responsibility that the editors cannot take lightly.
To fulfill and embody its editorial, and to reflect the academic achievements of the association and the field of cultural research, the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies features columns such as "Special Articles," "Studies on the Yellow and Yan Emperors and Their Era," "Origins of Chinese Civilization," "National and Regional Cultures," "Cultural Relics and Archaeology," and "Trends and Schools of Thought." To foster academic vitality and encourage the discussion of diverse opinions, it includes "Exploration and Debate" and "Cultural Discussions." To honor the contributions of elder scholars who have made outstanding achievements in Chinese culture, there is a dedicated column for "Chinese Scholars." To strengthen exchanges with the international community, there is "Overseas Research on Chinese Culture." To keep abreast of developments and achievements in cultural research, there are "Book Reviews and Prefaces" and "Academic Dynamics." The establishment of these columns reflects some of the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies' distinctive features.
In a cultural garden where various publications vie for attention, to stand out, journals must not only maintain high academic quality but also possess their own unique characteristics. The Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies differs from the comprehensive social science and humanities journals of universities and research institutions, as well as from specialized publications in various disciplines. As a comprehensive academic and cultural serial, the articles it publishes are largely related to the study of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary cultural construction, embodying profound cultural depth and heritage. Moreover, even when compared to similar publications focused on traditional culture, the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies shares both similarities and differences. For instance, its research on the Yellow and Yan Emperors and their era, emphasis on the origins of Chinese civilization and related cultural relics and archaeology, as well as its exploration of regional and national cultures, are all unique features.
We hope, under the banner of promoting Yan Huang culture (which is also the culture of the Chinese nation), to dedicate significant efforts to "promoting the excellence of national culture" and "ensuring that Yan Huang culture makes new contributions to world civilization." With the support of distinguished scholars and scholars from both domestic and international academic and cultural circles, and through the collective efforts of the editorial team, we aim to make the Journal of Yan Huang Culture Studies a publication with unparalleled and distinctive characteristics that cannot be replaced by any other journal.
