What is testicular torsion?

Patient's question:

What does it mean when the doctor says my testicular cord is reversed? I've been feeling uncomfortable lately, but how should it be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Testicular torsion is when: the testicle and spermatic cord undergo a certain degree of reversal, and the anatomical relationship reoccurs to a certain extent. Once testicular torsion is diagnosed, immediate and early surgical reduction should be performed to fully restore its normal blood supply. If poor testicular circulation is detected during surgery and it cannot be fully restored through the procedure, the testicle should be removed. In cases of milder testicular torsion, manual reduction can be attempted. After successful reduction, the scrotum should be supported to allow the restoration of normal blood supply.
