Features: This book is a revised edition of the original publication of "Humanistic Spirit and Humanistic Science—An Introduction to the Methodology of Humanistic Science" in 1994. It reflects my full respect for the existing knowledge traditions while also breaking through the traditional knowledge framework. In terms of its core content, it critiques the one-sided scientific perspective and narrow scientific spirit of rationalism and scientism since ancient Greek philosophy, thereby revealing the theoretical and practical status of humanistic science. At the same time, it emphasizes defining the characteristics and methods of humanistic science through comparisons with social sciences. The proposal of this academic perspective and the expression of this academic concept represent my attempt to construct a new academic field called "Methodology of Humanistic Science," as well as my pursuit of a symbiotic and dialogical framework among the three academic and knowledge systems of natural science, social science, and humanistic science. As a life story, this book also records a journey of my heart and life as an academic. The initial planning and writing of this book were completed from October 1993 to April 1994. I often feel fortunate and reflective about how my individual thinking aligned with the "humanistic spirit movement" of that time. This discussion and the writing of the first edition of this book also reflect the clear pulse of Chinese culture in the process of nurturing and fostering modernity and modern culture. The previous "culture boom" and the philosophical issue of the subject, among others, all contain profound historical and cultural logic. Subsequently, discussions on the relationship between the market economy and ethical and moral construction, as well as on the relationships between science and humanity, technology and humanity, and industry and humanity, have all reflected the same spirit and value fluctuations and rhythms. The call to promote national spirit during the process of globalization, as well as the proposal of China's new social development concept of "people-centered" development at present, all actually embody the same spirit and value rhythms.
