Features: When you open the Devil's Dictionary, oh my! The world that once seemed organized is completely twisted and disordered. Everything seems distorted and reversed! The luster of civilization peels off, and the scars of life are exposed. What lies before you is nothing but ugliness and absurdity. But don't be afraid. Compared to the cannons and atomic bombs humans use for killing, it is much more merciful and interesting. Take a look at what this master of satire has to say:
Beauty—The power of women to attract lovers and scare husbands.
Apology—A prelude to offending again in the future.
Cannon—An instrument used to correct national boundaries.
Funeral—An outdoor performance that proves our reverence for the deceased by making undertakers rich. It strengthens our groans and doubles our tears with exorbitant expenses.
