Patient's question:
Postpartum hemorrhage. I had a C-section on October 25th, and now it's November 19th, but I'm still bleeding. Hello, when will the bleeding stop, and when can I fully recover? Doctor!!Doctor's answer:
This is usually lochia, the uterus gradually increases in size during labor and then returns to its original state, there is a uterine involution process during this period. In the first few days of this process, the amount of lochia is relatively high, and it is bright red, so it is called red lochia, also known as bloody lochia. After 3-5 days, the amount of blood in the lochia decreases, and it turns into a pale red color, which is called serous lochia. At 10-14 days postpartum, the lochia appears white or light yellow, known as white lochia. Lochia generally subsides within 3 weeks postpartum. If there is only a bloody odor but no foul smell, it should be considered normal. Pay close attention to changes in its quality, quantity, color, and odor.
