Features: Modern Novel Translation Series (Volume I) was published in May 1922 by Shanghai Commercial Press, translated by Zhou Zuoren. Among them, Lu Xun translated nine pieces, Zhou Zuoren translated eighteen, and Zhou Jianren translated three. Prior to this, Zhou Zuoren had already published a short story collection titled Dian Di (). Modern Novel Translation Series followed it, both demonstrating the achievement of introducing "literature of minor nations" in vernacular Chinese. The title "Volume I" seemed to suggest a larger plan, much like how Foreign Tales Series () initially aimed to "continue, accumulate little by little, and roughly introduce the works of famous writers from various countries." However, before the sequel could be translated, the brothers parted ways, and the plan was thus abandoned. Modern Novel Translation Series (Volume I) was published in May 1922 by Shanghai Commercial Press, translated by Zhou Zuoren. Among them, Lu Xun translated nine pieces, Zhou Zuoren translated eighteen, and Zhou Jianren translated three.
