Does the prostate cause mycoplasma infection?

Patient's question:

I found out that I have prostatitis for a year. I have seen a doctor before and am currently taking medication. Recently, I discovered that I have a mycoplasma infection. I want to ask the doctor, is it because of my prostatitis? Can prostatitis lead to mycoplasma infection?

Doctor's answer:

Mycoplasma is a pathogen, and the prostate is the male reproductive gland. Prostatitis is a common inflammatory disease in men. It is mycoplasma infection that causes prostatitis, not prostatitis that causes mycoplasma infection. This condition can be treated with oral gatifloxacin dispersible tablets and azithromycin dispersible tablets, or by conducting a drug sensitivity test and using the medication based on the results of the test.
