What should I do if a newborn spits up milk?

Patient's question:

Doctor, why is my baby always spitting up recently? I don't know what's going on, and I haven't been feeding him too much milk either? Even when I feed him a small amount, he still spits it up. Is there something wrong with his stomach?

Doctor's answer:

It's normal for babies to spit up milk. I have a few methods to alleviate it. First, raise the baby's head 30-45 degrees during feeding. After finishing, pat them immediately until they burp. Once done, don't put them down right away. Keep them upright for about 10 minutes. If the baby is being fed with formula, fill the nipple with milk and then feed it. Try to minimize the baby's intake of air to prevent spitting up.
