Features: "The New Society" is the third (and final) monograph in which I analyze and evaluate the industrial society that emerged after World War II. This book was written after "The Future of the Industrial Man" (1949) and "The Concept of the Corporation" (1946).
This book discusses two themes. First, the industrial society of the 20th century was a brand-new society unlike any before, and it was a global society rather than a "Western" or "capitalist" society, a fact little known but worth knowing. Second, this new society had a unique social institution—the industrial enterprise. It had its own management, its own factory community, and its own twin brother—the trade union.
