Features: This book focuses on the life and love between Wang Guangmei and Liu Shaoqi, with a strong sense of everyday life. In the 1940s, Wang Guangmei, who graduated from the Physics Department of the Institute of Science at Fu Ren University, gave up the opportunity to study at a renowned university in the United States and chose the path of revolution. As an English translator for the Chinese delegation of the Beiping Military Mediation Commission, Wang Guangmei met and fell in love with Liu Shaoqi, a leader of the Communist Party of China. The two married in 1948 and supported each other throughout their lives. During the Cultural Revolution, Wang Guangmei and Liu Shaoqi remained inseparable. Wang Guangmei endured 12 years of imprisonment and experienced the profound sorrow of "only learning of her husband's death three years after he passed away." In her later years, Wang Guangmei actively participated in creating the "Happiness Project," generously helping impoverished mothers. Nearly 20 of the rare photographs in this book have been published for the first time, including a 1949 photo of the couple with their daughter Liu Pingping, the 1950s when they walked hand in hand visiting a kindergarten, the 1960s when they strolled in Zhongnanhai, and personal photos of her in her later years.
