Symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia?

Patient's question:

Lately, I've been feeling that my little brother isn't very comfortable, and I've noticed that I'm going to the bathroom more and more often. It feels like I can't go enough. What's most frustrating for me is that I can't have normal sexual life now. It's making me lose confidence, and my wife isn't happy either.

Doctor's answer:

Early symptoms include an increasing frequency of urination, particularly frequent nighttime urination, ranging from 3 to 4 times to as many as 7 to 8 times. There is a sense of urgency to urinate, yet the urine cannot be expelled immediately, requiring a waiting period and gradual effort to finally pass it. Gradually, the distance of urination becomes shorter, and the urine stream becomes thinner, eventually failing to form a continuous stream and instead appearing as drips in the later stages. It may also present with sudden inability to urinate, accompanied by severe lower abdominal pain and an intense urge to urinate, yet the urine cannot be expelled.
