Features: An annual is a reference book compiled and published continuously on an annual basis. It primarily records the new developments and situations in various fields within a year, characterized by high knowledge density, information density, and time density. It is a combination of high-density, high-capacity knowledge, information, and documentary materials. It "collects a hundred trades into one volume and compresses a year into a moment." People call it "the record of yesterday, the mirror of today, and the witness of tomorrow." The content collected in an annual should be new materials with significant impact on social development within the previous year, such as major events, activities, achievements, and important statistical data. When collecting, it strives for completeness, novelty, and precision—comprehensively collecting information, providing new situations, progress, and knowledge; ensuring accuracy in facts and concise expression. The timeliness of an annual is very strong, requiring rapid information feedback, with the shortest possible publishing cycle. At the same time, it must be compiled and published annually, forming a series year after year. Only in this way can it generate social influence and become a comprehensive, systematic, continuous, and accurate reference tool. An annual is called a documentary reference tool because it categorizes and summarizes a large amount of data into categories, subcategories, and entries, making it comprehensive yet not cluttered, broad yet not disorganized. When compiling an annual, except in special cases where events from several years can be merged to create a combined annual, it is generally advisable to compile one annual per year, documenting the previous year's events and labeling them with the current year's number, for example, recording events from 2003 for the 2004 annual. Some comprehensive entries and entries centered around specific events should adopt the "record of events from beginning to end" style. This means concentrating the entire process of an event, from its occurrence to its conclusion, within a single entry. For unavoidable multi-year data that must be included, it can be presented as background material to provide context, but the length should not be too long, with a focus on the primary documentation of the developments in various fields during the current year. An annual not only provides readers with timely new materials but also accumulates historical records for society, holding documentary value for both the present and the past. Regardless of the type of annual, it is a "encyclopedia" that reflects the overall picture of the year.
