Features: After the reform of the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4), although traditional vocabulary multiple-choice questions were abolished, the required vocabulary volume not only did not decrease but also increased by 278 words. So, how should you arrange your vocabulary review? Revised to meet the new vocabulary requirements post-reform, CET-4 Vocabulary Made Easy can help you!
1. Too many words? Prioritize what you need to test: When reviewing words, you should focus without leaving anything out! The revised Made Easy includes all vocabulary specified in the Teaching Requirements for College English Courses newly issued by the Ministry of Education (excluding non-high-frequency middle school vocabulary), and adds 278 new words required by the new question types. At the same time, while covering the meanings of words, it simplifies definitions through summarization and consolidation. The book accurately calculates the examination frequency of words and adopts a cross-ordered arrangement, allowing candidates to review in order of importance from high to low, while avoiding confusion caused by similar word forms. Words frequently tested in past exams are highlighted in color in the vocabulary list to help candidates focus on key areas during review.
2. Classify by test methods to identify weak spots: Based on their test application, the book categorizes words into six types. "High-Frequency New Question Type Vocabulary" forms the foundation for all exam question types. "Vocabulary for Translation" and "Common Comprehensive Cloze Vocabulary" frequently appear in translation and cloze questions, respectively. These three types of vocabulary are presented with example sentences to demonstrate their most commonly tested meanings and usages. "Essential Listening Comprehension Vocabulary" and "Common Reading Comprehension Vocabulary" frequently appear in listening and reading sections, with authentic exam examples selected from past listening and reading passages to illustrate their usage. "Vocabulary for Grasping through Comprehension" has never appeared in past exams and is organized in a classified list format. With the change in question types, CET-4 has different requirements for vocabulary: the depth of vocabulary assessment has decreased, while its breadth has increased. The categorization and example sentences in this book aim to help candidates identify their weak areas and improve their ability to distinguish vocabulary in different contexts.
3. Don’t just "practice," aim for "mastery": The book selects representative questions from past exams and designs three types of exercises based on reform requirements: "New Question Type Training," "Translation Training," and "Comprehensive Cloze Training." These carefully selected exam questions are highly representative, allowing candidates to uncover question-setting patterns and enhance their skills. "Practice" is just a means, but "mastery" is our goal!
4. Carry it with you, review and learn anew: The pocket-sized Made Easy is easy to carry, enabling candidates to study during spare time, such as breaks, waiting in line, or before meetings. More importantly, whenever candidates encounter anything or a situation that triggers associations or recollections of learned vocabulary, they can immediately open Made Easy to find relevant key points, promptly reinforcing memory and deepening understanding. Through several such cycles of review and learning, candidates can achieve firm retention of vocabulary, making it difficult to forget even after a long time. Combining convenience and efficiency—Made Easy helps candidates stay ahead!
