What to do about the manifestations and symptoms of neonatal pneumonia?

Patient's question:

Online says that newborns spitting bubbles is a sign of pneumonia. My baby is 25 days old, and I've noticed him spitting bubbles these last couple of days. His heart rate is around 48, and there's a sound coming from his nose while he breathes, but he's in good spirits and feeding normally. He has two to three bowel movements a day. I'm not sure if it's newborn pneumonia.

Doctor's answer:

Newborn pneumonia usually presents with fever, and it cannot be concluded that a baby has pneumonia just based on the observation of the baby spitting bubbles. Newborns often spit bubbles after feeding, which is normal.
Advice: Based on your description, the baby's vital signs are generally normal, so there's no need to worry too much. Just monitor the baby's vital signs. The baby's breathing is audible; check if there's something in the nose and help clear it if necessary. These are not serious issues. Wishing the baby a healthy growth!
