Is maca effective for prostatitis?

Patient's question:

Doctor. I've been feeling lower abdominal pain recently, and it also eases when I use the restroom. Feeling very upset, I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up. The doctor said I have prostatitis, prescribed medication, but it hasn't been effective. Recently, I've heard that maca has value. I want to know if maca is effective for prostatitis?

Doctor's answer:

The patient experiences a dull ache in the lower abdomen, which is relieved when urinating. It is suspected to be caused by prostatitis. Prostatitis is primarily associated with transmission of pathogens, frequent sexual activity, and excessive sexual intercourse, which can lead to symptoms such as frequent urination, urinary urgency, and pelvic and sacral pain. Prostatic fluid can be extracted for testing, and oral medications can be taken to stabilize the condition. Warm water may also be recommended. Maca has little effect and is not recommended for use.
