How should neonatal hard edema be treated?

Patient's question:

My child was just born not long ago. Since every newborn needs to undergo a check-up, one check-up revealed high jaundice, and it was also said that the muscles in the hands, feet, and waist were quite stiff, which might affect future development. They suggested hospitalizing the child. Now, it has been more than a month since the child was hospitalized, but the results have not been very ideal. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, the treatment measures are as follows:
1. Warming is the primary treatment. For mildly ill children, after a warm bath, they are wrapped in warm blankets and placed in a warm room at 24~26°C, equipped with hot water bags. The water temperature gradually rises from 40°C to 60°C, allowing the body temperature to rise rapidly to normal. Moderate to severe children can first be placed on an open infrared warming bed, with the temperature adjustable to 1.5~2°C higher than the child's body temperature. Every 30 minutes, the body temperature can be increased by 1°C. The warming bed temperature can continue to rise as the child's body temperature increases. When the body temperature reaches 4°C, the child can be moved into a closed incubator, where the temperature can be maintained at around 5°C. To reduce radiant heat loss, a transparent plastic sheet is placed slightly away from the child's body around the edges.
