What are the causes of varicocele?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I'm curious, why does varicocele occur? What are the causes of varicocele?

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele is an inflammation of the veins, referring to the abnormal expansion or tortuosity of the pampiniform plexus of veins within the spermatic cord. Most cases are caused by congenital weakness of the spermatic veins or subsequent secondary infections. Therefore, if diagnosed, surgical treatment is required, as local medication cannot cure it. It can easily lead to hydrocele of the scrotum. If it causes harm to the nerves or damage to the vas deferens, it may result in infertility.
