Patient's question:
I have a friend who recently had a routine urine test. Could you please tell me if a routine urine test can detect the prostate?Doctor's answer:
A urinalysis cannot thoroughly check for prostatitis; it is primarily used to whether there might be a urinary tract infection. Additionally, if there are many kidney diseases, they can also be preliminarily judged through a urinalysis, mainly by examining white blood cells, red blood cells, occult blood, and urinary glucose, excluding proteinuria. However, to confirm the presence of prostatitis, a detailed examination of prostatic fluid or a prostate ultrasound is required for speculation, as a urinalysis alone cannot diagnose it.
