Author: Wang Youming et al.
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1995-05-01
Features: This book, through the development of new processes such as controlled rolling and controlled cooling and the research of their fundamental theories, further reveals the intrinsic relationship between deformation and cooling process parameters during hot deformation, the microstructural changes, phase transformation rules, and performance of steel. It enriches and forms the physical metallurgical engineering theory of steel under hot deformation conditions. The book compiles the numerous research achievements of the authors in this field over recent years and strives to collect relevant scientific research accomplishments and production practice materials from both domestic and international sources, making its content rich and detailed. Controlled rolling and controlled cooling technology is a new steel rolling production technology developed in the past decade in both China and abroad, receiving significant attention from the international metallurgical community. Countries have successively carried out theoretical and applied research in various aspects and applied these technologies in steel rolling production, significantly improving and enhancing the strength, toughness, and performance of steel, while creating favorable conditions for energy saving, simplifying production processes, and developing new steel products. Through the development of new processes such as controlled rolling and controlled cooling and the research of their fundamental theories, the intrinsic relationship between deformation and cooling process parameters during hot deformation, the microstructural changes, phase transformation rules, and performance of steel are further revealed. This enriches and forms the physical metallurgical engineering theory of steel under hot deformation conditions, providing a basis for formulating reasonable hot rolling production processes.
Part I of the book is on the theory of controlled rolling and controlled cooling of steel, consisting of seven chapters, mainly introducing the strengthening and toughening mechanisms of steel, the characteristics of steel under hot deformation, deformation recrystallization, deformation phase transformation, the role of microalloying elements in controlled rolling, the deformation mechanisms of medium- and high-carbon steels, and the theory of controlled cooling, among other fundamental knowledge. Part II consists of three chapters, mainly introducing the application of controlled rolling and controlled cooling technology in the production of medium-thick plates, wide strips, shaped sections, bars, rebars, wires, and tubes.
This book serves as a selective course textbook for students majoring in metal forming, helping them expand and deepen their knowledge in this field. It enables students to master cutting-edge technologies that combine related disciplines with their major. By applying the content learned, students can enhance their ability to analyze and solve problems. The book can also serve as a reference for technical personnel engaged in this field and for postgraduate students in relevant disciplines.
This book is mainly written by Wang Youming, Li Manyun, and Wei Guang from the Department of Metal Forming at University of Science and Technology Beijing. Xu Fuchang also participated in the writing of some chapters. The book compiles the research achievements of the authors over recent years and strives to collect relevant scientific research accomplishments and production practice materials from both domestic and international sources to enrich its content. During the writing process, strong support was received from the Rolling Section of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Metallurgy, as well as from relevant factories, universities, and research institutes, who provided valuable materials. The authors sincerely express their gratitude to them. Due to limited professional knowledge and the haste in writing, certain errors and shortcomings may exist in the book. The authors sincerely hope that readers will point them out.
