How is varicocele of the penis caused?

Patient's question:

Today, jumping down from a height of 1 meter and landing caused pain in the perineum. Normally, the scrotum is moist, and the dryness of other skin areas is different. Sometimes, the left side above the penis may be painful. (I spread my scrotum flat, and there are many very prominent veins on it—is this normal?) How can I know if I have varicocele myself?

Doctor's answer:

Periodically, the condition of damp scrotum may reappear, which is more often caused by lifestyle issues. It is recommended that you avoid prolonged sitting and switch to loose, breathable underwear. Additionally, the underwear should not be too tight. If you have varicocele, you will need to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination. The veins you are showing on the skin are merely more prominent and do not necessarily indicate varicocele. Varicocele can be relieved, but the treatment process is generally slow and prone to recurrence. Therefore, during treatment, medications should be used according to the symptoms. Additionally, patients should avoid prolonged sitting or riding and pay close attention to personal hygiene.
