Shuowen Jiezi Note Jing

Author: Xu Shen [Han]
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-01-01
Features: The Shuowen Jiezi by Xu Shen of the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Shuowen Jiezi Zhu by Duan Yucai of the Qing Dynasty are two monumental works that successively shine in the history of Chinese linguistics. Both are essential classic texts for scholars of textual studies and indispensable reference tools that need to be frequently consulted. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhonghua Book Company and Shanghai Guji Press have successively published the Da Xu edition and the Duan edition of the Shuowen Jiezi, complete with a Strokes Index, providing readers with two excellent editions. However, the basic indexing is organized by stroke order, with characters of the same stroke arranged according to the 540 radicals of the Shuowen Jiezi. This still makes it inconvenient for readers to use. To address this, we have compiled this Four-Corner Number Index for the Shuowen Jiezi (abbreviated as Index) for the two books.
