The three main characters in every story are the boy Flynn, the girl Mia, and Flynn's uncle—Erle, the archaeologist known as the "expert of experts." Their treasure-hunting adventures either involve world-historically renowned events or widelying magical mysteries. As readers follow the protagonists on thrilling journeys to track down ancient sunken Spanish treasure ships, rescue the Queen of Ancient Egypt, explore pirate treasure pits, and more, they not only gain an immersive experience but also learn to describe deep-sea landscapes, tropical rainforests, fantastical realms, foreign customs, the triumph of good over evil, and sincere friendships in simpler English. The series fully reflects the dreams and pursuits of teenagers in English-speaking countries, using vivid and realistic plots with natural, everyday language. Each book in the series opens with a double-page illustration that provides information about the treasure-hunting destinations in the story, including their locations on a world map, detailed maps of the countries, and simplified diagrams of the protagonists' treasure-hunting routes and discoveries. Additionally, each book is supported by multiple websites, offering further rich and interesting information. To help some readers overcome difficulties and increase their interest, each story is preceded by a Chinese "plot summary"; the "Think Before You Read" section helps spark reading interest; readers who enjoy computers can also choose online paths from the "Explore Websites Related to the Story" to learn more fun facts and broaden their horizons. The "Read a Story, Learn Spoken English" section at the end of each book extracts popular, vivid, and practical English sentences among teenagers; teachers or parents can guide students in reading activities around the "Reading Reflection Questions." Key vocabulary and language points in the story are listed as footnotes at the bottom of each page, and a detailed "Glossary" is also provided at the end. This series is suitable for students in the third year of junior high school and the first year of senior high school.
Who angered the god of creation? Mysterious red rain began to fall over Easter Island. Mayor Atan sought help from Dr. Erle. Dr. Erle came to the island with his nephew Flynn and Flynn's good friend Mia. The annual egg hunt competition was about to begin— whoever found the seasonal seabird egg first could become the spokesperson of the god of creation, the "Flying Man." Meanwhile, someone had stolen the eggs, attempting to cheat in the competition. To ensure the competition could proceed, a foreigner was needed to return the eggs to the small island designated as the competition's endpoint before the race and hide them. The god of creation chose Flynn. He had to descend the cliffs and cross the river where sharks lurked to fulfill his mission. Would he dare?
