Post varicocelectomy, is it normal to have a worm-like cluster 5 months later?

Patient's question:

5 months ago, I had surgery for left varicocele, and now the worm cluster is still there. Is this normal or not?

Doctor's answer:

The surgical method for varicocele primarily involves high ligation of the spermatic vein, rather than completely removing the dilated veins. Therefore, after varicocele surgery, the dilated vein cluster still remains, but it will gradually expand or disappear over time. Varicocele can be cured, but the treatment duration is usually long, and it is prone to recurrence after treatment. Therefore, medication should be used symptomatically during treatment. Additionally, patients should avoid prolonged sitting or riding and pay close attention to personal hygiene.
