Patient's question:
Take the child to: Beijing Angel Children's Hospital for a thorough examination, and it was found that the child has phimosis. The doctor said that phimosis requires surgical treatment. I would like to consult about what dietary precautions need to be taken before the surgery? Is fasting required? How long does it take to fully recover after the surgery?Doctor's answer:
Penile phimosis is divided into congenital phimosis and acquired phimosis. Mild epithelial adhesion between the inner foreskin and the glans penis is refined, the foreskin retracts, and the glans penis is exposed. If the adhesion is not refined, it constitutes congenital phimosis. Acquired phimosis is often secondary to inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin, leading to scarred stenosis of the foreskin orifice. For congenital phimosis, the foreskin can be gently retracted daily, followed by cleaning to remove smegma, and then applying erythromycin ointment or petroleum jelly to restore the foreskin to its original position. For acquired phimosis, surgical treatment may be necessary. The condition of phimosis is prone to recurrence.
