Can full-term samples be discarded?

Patient's question:

My own daughter is a full-term small baby. She was born at only 42 cm and weighed 2100 grams. She was exclusively breastfed. Now she is 5 months and 4 days old, weighing only 9.8 jin and measuring 57.2 cm in length. I would like to ask if it's okay to give up on a full-term small baby?

Doctor's answer:

Full-term infants can be acceptable, although they are full-term but underweight, which is related to insufficient nutrition during pregnancy and restricted intrauterine development. Moreover, a small portion may have congenital developmental deformities, making them prone to deficiencies in vitamins and trace elements, lower immunity, and a higher susceptibility to various infections. If the child's weight gain is insufficient at five months, it is recommended to have blood tests to conduct a systematic examination of trace elements, vitamin D, and other aspects to rule out organic diseases.
