Regarding whether my child's blood is normal

Patient's question:

Child: Peripheral blood cells, neutrophils, and cytoplasmic granules are slightly increased. Atypical lymphocytes are observed, but no immature red blood cells are seen. White blood cell differential: segmented neutrophils 32%; band neutrophils 1%. Is this normal?

Doctor's answer:

If you look at the blood test alone, your child is considered to have a viral infection. A specific diagnosis requires the doctor to determine it based on clinical symptoms, signs, and other relevant tests. It cannot be diagnosed solely based on blood test results. Don't worry now—if a viral infection occurs, symptomatic and active treatment is still needed. This is still caused by a weakened immune system. If you have pharyngitis, you may need to take some sensitive antibiotics. Additionally, stay warm when going out to avoid catching a cold. If you want to enhance your immunity, it is recommended to use some immune-boosting medications.
