Features: Liu Da and Che Da are a pair of street ruffians. While gambling, they cheated and won a treasure map, only to be mocked. Shen Hanlin held a literary gathering at his home, and these two uneducated goofballs each found ghostwriters to take the exam. Liu Da hired a scholar named Xie Ying to write for him, while Che Da asked his sister Che Jingying to take the test for him. Shen Hanlin wrote the theme essay "Green Peony," and to everyone's surprise, Liu Da and Che Da ranked first and second respectively, while the genuine scholar Gu Xiuzhai ended up third. Che Da and Liu Da became overconfident, thinking they had truly become scholars. They collected lewd songs and poems in brothels, released a personal album, and threw a grand celebration with friends and relatives, full of ridiculous jokes. Shen Hanlin's daughter Wan'e and Che Jingying disguised themselves as men and exposed these two cheaters. They also found the real talented scholar Gu Xiuzhai and Xie Ying. As the saying goes: There is justice in the world—cheating may harm others but ultimately harms oneself, while true talent and knowledge will always win the favor of the beautiful.
