Features: The Words on Human Life is a highly renowned literary theory and criticism work of modern times. It Wang Guowei's literary and aesthetic thoughts and is a milestone in the history of classical Chinese literary and aesthetic theory. Since its first printing in 1908, The Words on Human Life has been published in numerous versions and revised multiple times. As it inherits the traditional form of Chinese literary criticism, it consists of fragmented remarks and flashes of inspiration, where brilliant phrases are formed. Therefore, the manuscript edition will preserve to a great extent the authenticity of this writing, and compared to the numerous revised editions that are relatively self-contained, it holds an irreplaceable value. Unfortunately, Wang Guowei's manuscript has long been buried in the imperial archives, inaccessible to many readers. Thus, based on Mr. Teng Xianhui's New Annotations to The Words on Human Life and Mr. Fu Chui's Revised The Words on Human Life, we have reorganized and annotated this Complete Manuscript Edition of The Words on Human Life, striving to present the original manuscript of Wang Guowei to the readers. The Complete Manuscript Edition of The Words on Human Life is divided into two parts: The first part is the original manuscript of Wang Guowei's The Words on Human Life. The second part is the appendix. Appendix I contains scattered remarks on literature by Wang Guowei outside of The Words on Human Life, compiled by Mr. Zhao Wanli, Chen Naiqian, Xu Tiofu, and others, and later organized by Mr. Teng. Appendix II is Wang Guowei's Small Sayings on Literature. Appendix III is Wang Guowei's essay The Literary Spirit of Quzi.
