Patient's question:
In the past few months, I've been feeling weak all over, with severe lower back pain, a heavy and bloated sensation in the lower abdomen, decreased libido, accompanied by frequent and urgent urination. There's some pain near the testicles, with redness and swelling on the surface, and discomfort between the legs, which is very painful. I went to the hospital for a thorough examination, and the doctor said it's a mild case of epididymitis.Doctor's answer:
The symptoms of epididymitis include:1. Scrotal pain: Epididymitis can cause scrotal pain. The pain in the scrotum often occurs suddenly and may radiate along the spermatic cord to the groin area and lumbar-sacral region. The pain is usually severe, with significant tenderness and resistance to palpation. Swelling progresses rapidly, and the epididymis may shrink by half within 3–4 hours. There may be a recurrence of secretions in the urethra, accompanied by cystitis, with cloudy urine. There is tenderness in the groin area.
2. Chronic swelling of the testicle: When a man has epididymitis, the testicle becomes chronically swollen. It feels hard with a smooth surface and has mild tenderness, losing its normal sensitivity. In some cases, the testicle gradually enlarges, and in severe cases, the testicle may be almost imperceptible. Bilateral chronic epididymitis often leads to infertility.
