Features: The reform of China's rural areas has always been carried out in accordance with Deng Xiaoping's theoretical framework. Deng Xiaoping's discussions on agriculture are very rich, and whenever he speaks of agriculture, he is concise yet profound, embodying the characteristic of delivering great meaning in subtle words. A serious study and comprehension of his relevant speeches reveal that his agricultural economic thought possesses a relatively complete system, profound connotations, and scientific methods. As emphasized in the "Decision of the Third Plenary Session of the 15th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Several Major Issues Concerning Agriculture and Rural Work": The success of rural reform is a great victory of Deng Xiaoping's theory. Adhering consistently to the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's theory, emancipating the mind, and seeking truth from facts—this is the fundamental experience behind the success of China's rural reform. The Theory of Deng Xiaoping's Agricultural Thought is the final outcome of the major applied economic research project "Deng Xiaoping's Economic Theory and the Reform and Development of Rural Economy in China" funded by the National Social Science Fund of China. This project was jointly undertaken by the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture. The purpose of the project was to explore the complete theoretical system of Deng Xiaoping's rural reform and development, comprehensively summarize the achievements made in China's rural reform and development under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's theory, and, on this basis, focus on researching how to adhere to and apply Deng Xiaoping's theory under the new historical conditions to further promote rural reform and development. This book covers the system, origins, and significance of rural economic thought, the great victory of Deng Xiaoping's theory, the theory of agricultural household management, the theory of the foundation of agriculture, the theory of two leaps in agriculture, the theory of food security, and more.
