Features: Regarding the versions of traditional tunes, the ones provided in this tutorial are merely illustrative. Since the versions of traditional tunes for most ethnic instruments are often varied in folk performances, this is determined by the inherent flexibility of ethnic music. We should embrace and preserve this cultural phenomenon and its characteristics. However, candidates should also note: First, the version of the tune chosen by the candidate should indeed be the same piece as the one in the textbook, not a homonymous but different piece; second, the technical and musical expressive difficulty of the version chosen by the candidate should be roughly equivalent to the level of the version provided in the textbook. As long as it does not fall below the level of the version provided in the textbook, candidates need not worry about using a different version of the same tune from this textbook. All the pieces in this textbook (excluding etudes) have been tested and proven through years of national examination practice. This edition has added a certain number of etudes, hoping to contribute to the improvement of teaching standards for the zheng in the future.
