Patient's question:
I've been feeling unwell lately. I don't know why the number of times I use the restroom has significantly increased, and it's much harder than before. I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up, and the doctor said I have a prostatic cyst.Doctor's answer:
Prostate cysts are composed of normal acini, or they may be multilocular. The acini are lined with columnar epithelium, some of which are cuboidal epithelium. The cysts are filled with serous or serosanguineous fluid. Prostate cysts can be infected by second-order neurons and stones. When larger cysts grow and press against the urethra or bladder neck, they can obstruct urine flow. Common symptoms include urgency, frequency, difficulty urinating, thin urine stream, urinary retention, and when pressing against the rectum, it can cause difficulty in defecation. When the cyst is large, a digital rectal examination can palpate the cyst in the prostate region. Urethral contrast imaging clearly shows a curved impression in the posterior urethra. MRI and CT can clearly determine its position.
